WETEX 2026 opens in Dubai, showcasing desalination, water recycling, smart networks and innovative technologies to improve water security and sustainability

DUBAI: The 28th Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2026) opened on Tuesday, October 20, at the Dubai World Trade Centre, highlighting innovative solutions to strengthen water security and resource sustainability.

Organised by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), the three-day exhibition runs until October 22.

The event brings together international companies, industry experts and government representatives to explore technologies that improve water management and reduce resource consumption.

Smart Technologies Transform Water Management

WETEX 2026 showcases advanced desalination systems, wastewater treatment technologies and water recycling solutions.

The exhibition also highlights smart water networks, leak detection systems and digital monitoring tools.

These technologies help utilities reduce water losses, improve operational efficiency and manage growing demand.

Experts are also exploring how artificial intelligence and automation can improve water distribution and infrastructure management.

Growing Concerns Over Global Water Security

Climate change, urban expansion and increasing consumption continue to place pressure on global water resources.

According to the World Bank, urban water availability could decline by up to two-thirds by 2050 under existing management policies and projected climate conditions.

The warning highlights the importance of alternative water sources, resilient infrastructure and sustainable water management.

Supporting Dubai’s Sustainability Goals

WETEX provides a platform for companies to showcase technologies that support Dubai’s sustainability ambitions.

Participants are examining solutions to improve desalination efficiency, conserve resources and expand water reuse.

The exhibition also encourages international partnerships and investment in sustainable infrastructure.

Impact to Expect

WETEX 2026 could accelerate investment in water-saving technologies, improve infrastructure efficiency and encourage sustainable water management.

The exhibition also strengthens Dubai’s position as a global hub for environmental innovation and clean technology.
