Hotpack Oman expansion boosts local manufacturing

Hotpack Oman expansion takes a major step forward as the UAE-based packaging manufacturer acquires a significant stake in Pride Packaging and plans an integrated manufacturing complex in Barka to strengthen local production and sustainable packaging supply.

DUBAI: The Hotpack Oman expansion is entering a new phase after the UAE-headquartered packaging manufacturer announced the acquisition of a major stake in Pride Packaging, paving the way for an integrated manufacturing complex in Barka.

Pride Packaging, a corrugated packaging manufacturer, is a subsidiary of Sea Pride, one of Oman’s leading private fisheries businesses.

The agreement marks Hotpack’s move into local manufacturing in Oman, where it has maintained a commercial presence since 1998.

What will Hotpack’s new Oman facility produce?

The proposed integrated packaging complex in Barka will bring multiple packaging manufacturing activities together at one location.

The facility is intended to serve growing demand for sustainable and recyclable packaging across industries, including food, retail, hospitality and consumer goods.

The partnership’s memorandum of understanding was signed during the Inspire Oman Investors Summit in Muscat, organised by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The project combines Hotpack’s international manufacturing expertise with Pride Packaging’s established local operations and market knowledge.

Why is Hotpack investing in Oman?

The Hotpack Oman expansion forms part of the company’s broader regional manufacturing strategy, focused on increasing production capacity and bringing packaging solutions closer to customers.

Abdul Jabbar PB, Group CEO and Managing Director of Hotpack, said the investment represents a natural progression after nearly three decades of serving Omani businesses.

The company expects the new facility to support large-volume orders, strengthen domestic supply capacity and respond to growing industrial demand.

Hotpack also cited a projected compound annual growth rate of 4.36 per cent for the packaging sector.

Supporting local jobs and Oman Vision 2040

Beyond manufacturing capacity, the partnership is expected to support Oman’s industrial diversification ambitions.

Ameen Mohammed Sait, CEO of Sea Pride Group of Companies, said the collaboration would combine international technology and manufacturing capabilities with local expertise.

The companies intend to develop technical skills, create employment opportunities and improve access to packaging solutions produced within Oman.

The planned development is also aligned with Oman Vision 2040 and the country’s longer-term sustainability objectives.

How does the acquisition fit Hotpack’s global strategy?

Hotpack launched an AED1 billion international investment programme in 2023, targeting manufacturing expansion across several markets.

Its strategy includes developments in Saudi Arabia, India, the United States, Malaysia and Oman.

The company currently operates 25 manufacturing facilities across 17 countries and exports more than 4,500 products to 107 markets.

The Hotpack Oman expansion adds another manufacturing opportunity to this international network, although the company has not disclosed the acquisition’s financial value or exact ownership percentage.

Impact to expect

The proposed facility could strengthen Oman’s manufacturing sector, create employment opportunities and reduce reliance on imported packaging materials. For UAE businesses, the investment could also improve regional supply-chain integration and support growing trade between the two neighbouring economies.
