Positive Voice initiative inspires UAE school, students

The Positive Voice initiative, led by Emirati radio presenter Saif Abdulla, is helping UAE students address bullying, peer pressure and self-doubt through interactive school and university sessions focused on confidence, resilience and mental wellbeing.

DUBAI: Emirati radio presenter Saif Abdulla is taking his message of encouragement beyond the microphone, using the Positive Voice initiative to help young people across the UAE build confidence, tackle bullying and navigate everyday pressures.

The Radio 93 presenter has been visiting schools and universities, delivering voluntary motivational sessions focused on mental wellbeing, resilience and personal development.

His efforts align with the UAE National Strategy for Wellbeing 2031, which promotes positive thinking, mental health and improved quality of life.

How is Saif Abdulla helping UAE students?

Unlike traditional motivational lectures, Abdulla’s sessions combine personal storytelling, interactive activities, games and real-life situations that encourage students to participate. For younger pupils, discussions focus on kindness, confidence, bullying and standing up for themselves.

University students explore more complex challenges, including personal identity, career decisions, leadership, failure and the transition into professional life.

The Positive Voice initiative aims to equip students with practical ways to manage social pressure, overcome self-doubt and develop healthier attitudes towards challenges.

From radio broadcasting to inspiring classrooms

Abdulla brings more than 14 years of experience in broadcasting, public speaking and stage hosting to his voluntary work. A certified motivational speaker and children’s author, he previously presented the Breakfast Club on Pearl FM.

Reflecting on his motivation, Abdulla said, “Sometimes one sentence at the right age can stay with somebody for years.” He also recalled receiving a message from a 13-year-old girl who said his morning radio programme helped her feel stronger and less alone while experiencing bullying.

The experience reinforced his belief that encouraging words can make a meaningful difference to young listeners.

What are schools saying about the sessions?

Ruba Shadeed, Principal of Al Ain American School, praised Abdulla’s engaging approach and ability to connect with students. She said his friendly and humorous presentation made the sessions enjoyable and meaningful while helping students develop clearer ambitions for their futures.

Rather than focusing on the number of school visits, Abdulla prioritises meaningful engagement and personal connections during each session.

How does this support the UAE’s wellbeing goals?

The Positive Voice initiative reflects the wider objectives of the UAE National Strategy for Wellbeing 2031, particularly its emphasis on positive thinking and mental wellbeing.

By bringing conversations about confidence, bullying and emotional resilience into educational settings, the programme encourages young people to discuss challenges that can affect their development.

Impact to expect

The initiative could encourage greater awareness of youth mental wellbeing across UAE schools and universities. By creating opportunities for open discussions about bullying, confidence and personal growth, it may help students develop resilience while encouraging educational institutions to place greater emphasis on emotional wellbeing.
