Al Manama Museum has opened in Ajman, presenting the area’s history and cultural heritage through a contemporary visitor experience designed to make local history more accessible to younger generations.
AJMAN: Al Manama Museum has officially opened, offering visitors an opportunity to explore the emirate’s agricultural, social and cultural heritage through historical artefacts and interactive displays.
H.H. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of the Executive Council, inaugurated the museum on Thursday, October 22.
The museum features 13 exhibition rooms and a central courtyard called the Liwan, showcasing different periods of Al Manama’s history.
What Visitors Can Explore
The museum highlights traditional farming, livestock breeding, handicrafts, architecture and social customs.
Visitors can explore historical coins, postage stamps, children’s games and traditional building materials.
Exhibits also explain how palm trees, agriculture and natural water sources shaped the area’s economy and everyday life.
The museum includes the historic Al Murair Fort, once associated with visits by members of Ajman’s ruling family.
Another section documents Al Manama’s role as a training location for the Trucial Oman Scouts before the UAE’s formation.
Preserving Emirati Identity
Sheikh Ammar emphasised the importance of preserving history and passing cultural knowledge to younger generations.
The museum connects Emirati traditions with modern storytelling, helping visitors understand how earlier communities lived and worked.
Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ajman’s Department of Tourism, Culture and Media, said the museum strengthens the emirate’s cultural tourism offering.
The initiative also supports efforts to protect historical landmarks and promote local identity.
Impact to Expect
Al Manama Museum could attract more cultural tourists, school groups and families seeking educational experiences.
It also expands Ajman’s heritage attractions beyond the city centre.
The project is expected to strengthen awareness of Emirati traditions while supporting the emirate’s cultural tourism development.
