British Airways resumes daily London Heathrow-Dubai flights after eight months, with plans to increase services in summer 2027. Abu Dhabi flights remain suspended
DUBAI: British Airways has resumed direct flights between London Heathrow and Dubai International Airport after an eight-month suspension. The airline restarted operations on November 3, 2026, restoring a key connection between the UK and UAE.
The airline suspended flights in late February following the outbreak of regional conflict. Security concerns and airspace restrictions disrupted several international routes. British Airways initially planned to resume Dubai operations on October 25 but later postponed the restart.
Daily Flights Resume Between London and Dubai
British Airways flight BA105 departed London Heathrow on November 3 and landed at Dubai International Airport on November 4. The Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner then operated the return flight, BA104, to London.
The airline currently operates one daily flight in each direction during the winter season. It plans to increase services to twice daily in summer 2027, subject to operational conditions. The expanded schedule would offer travellers 14 weekly departures from each city, compared with the current seven.
Abu Dhabi Flights Remain Suspended
While British Airways has restored Dubai services, its Abu Dhabi route remains suspended. The airline does not expect to resume flights to the UAE capital until the winter 2027–2028 season.
Several international airlines continue to adjust their Middle East operations. Lufthansa, Swiss and Eurowings plan to restart Dubai flights on November 25, while Austrian Airlines has scheduled its return for December 12. Singapore Airlines, KLM and Air Canada have extended their Dubai suspensions into 2027.
Impact to Expect
The return of British Airways gives travellers another direct option between London and Dubai. It also restores competition on a major international route ahead of the winter travel season.
The planned increase in flight frequency could improve travel flexibility for tourists, business travellers and UAE residents. However, passengers should continue checking airline schedules as regional security conditions may affect operations.
