DUBAI: Dubai has announced Nad Zabeel, a major research and innovation complex designed to attract more than 30,000 scientists, researchers and entrepreneurs annually. The project aims to strengthen the emirate’s position as a global centre for advanced technology and scientific development.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, witnessed the announcement on November 1, 2026. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, launched the project.

Nad Zabeel to Focus on Future Technologies

The Dubai Future Research Complex will support research in artificial intelligence, robotics, advanced technology, urban innovation, healthcare and environmental technologies.

Located in Zabeel Park, the complex will house laboratories, scientific research centres and innovation incubators. It will bring together universities, technology companies, government entities, investors and international experts. The project will also provide facilities for startups, research partnerships and technology development.

Construction to Finish Within Five Years

Dubai Future Foundation will oversee the project, with construction and associated operations expected to finish within five years. The campus will sit near major landmarks, including Burj Khalifa, Dubai International Financial Centre, Museum of the Future and Emirates Towers. Nad Zabeel will complement existing institutions such as Dubai Future Foundation, Dubai Future Academy and Dubai Future Labs.

Supporting Dubai’s Future Economy

The project aligns with Dubai’s Economic Agenda D33, which aims to double the emirate’s economy by 2033. It will strengthen collaboration between researchers, businesses and investors while helping transform scientific developments into commercial opportunities.

The complex will also support startups through incubation programmes, funding connections and specialised research facilities. Sheikh Mohammed emphasised that preparing for future developments is essential for national progress.

Through Nad Zabeel, Dubai aims to expand its knowledge economy, attract international talent and accelerate innovation across industries that shape everyday life.

Impact to Expect

Nad Zabeel could attract global research talent, create opportunities for technology startups and investors, and accelerate Dubai’s transition towards a knowledge-based economy.
