Dubai’s Museum of the Future introduces skills-based recruitment, attracting 20,000 applications in 48 hours for its new visitor experience team
DUBAI: Dubai’s Museum of the Future has introduced a new recruitment model that prioritises human skills over academic qualifications and professional experience. The initiative, called “Future Perfects,” aims to identify individuals with strong communication, creativity, emotional intelligence and adaptability.
Launched on October 21, the campaign attracted 20,000 completed applications within 48 hours. Its website also recorded 42,000 visits during the same period, highlighting strong interest in alternative recruitment methods.
Hiring Based on Human Skills
Unlike traditional recruitment, the Future Perfects campaign does not require previous museum or customer service experience. Instead, applicants must demonstrate curiosity, storytelling abilities, active listening and problem-solving skills.
The museum wants candidates who can engage visitors from different cultures and explain complex ideas through meaningful conversations. Since opening in 2022, the Museum of the Future has welcomed more than five million visitors representing over 180 nationalities.
How the Recruitment Process Works
Applicants begin with a recorded audition that allows them to demonstrate their personalities and communication abilities without advance preparation. Shortlisted candidates then participate in practical assessments based on real visitor interactions. Finalists attend auditions before a panel of experts. The museum has also introduced interactive audition stations at selected Dubai locations, including Virgin Megastore, Roxy Cinemas and Dubai Design Week.
New Visitor Experience Coming in 2027
Successful candidates will join the museum’s visitor experience team in full-time positions. They will receive specialised training before supporting a redesigned visitor experience scheduled for 2027. The initiative reflects growing interest in evaluating practical abilities rather than relying entirely on educational credentials.
Impact to Expect
The recruitment model could encourage UAE employers to explore skills-based hiring and recognise talent beyond conventional qualifications. It also highlights the growing importance of human interaction in technology-driven workplaces.
