The UAE expects above-average rainfall in October, with more showers forecast across northern and eastern regions this week. Strong winds and morning fog are also possible
DUBAI: The UAE could experience more rainfall this week as the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) forecasts continued unsettled weather across northern and eastern regions. The latest outlook follows a wetter-than-usual October, with further showers expected in several areas.
The NCM says October’s average rainfall is around 5.2mm, with this month’s rainfall expected to exceed that level. Convective clouds could bring showers to Fujairah, Kalba, Ras Al Khaimah and other northern and eastern locations through Thursday, October 29.
More Rain Expected Across Northern Emirates
The NCM expects partly cloudy skies and periods of rain as convective clouds develop over the mountains and surrounding areas. Rainfall remains more likely in the northern and eastern Emirates, while Dubai and Abu Dhabi could see mostly dry conditions.
Strong winds may accompany cloud development, reaching speeds of 50km/h in some areas. These winds could raise dust and reduce visibility, particularly along exposed roads.
Temperatures Remain High Despite Rain
Despite the unsettled weather, daytime temperatures will remain relatively high. Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain could reach 36°C, while Sharjah may record 35°C. Fujairah could see temperatures around 34°C, while Ras Al Khaimah may reach 37°C.
Humidity will also remain high overnight and during early mornings. Fog or mist could develop in coastal and inland areas, affecting visibility during morning travel.
Sea Conditions and Weather Precautions
The Arabian Gulf could experience slight to moderate waves, reaching five feet offshore. Conditions in the Sea of Oman should remain relatively calm.
Residents should follow official NCM updates as weather conditions may change across different Emirates.
Impact to Expect
Rain and strong winds may affect road visibility and outdoor activities in northern and eastern areas. Motorists should drive carefully during showers and fog, while residents should avoid flooded roads and monitor official weather alerts.
