Dubai audiences decide UAE Philharmonic’s surprise finale

by Team DTN

Dubai audiences will decide the surprise ending of UAE Philharmonic Orchestra’s Rhapsody of Fate concert on November 7, choosing between two secret musical finales.

DUBAI: Dubai audiences will get an unusual opportunity to decide how a live orchestral concert ends when the UAE Philharmonic Orchestra presents Rhapsody of Fate on November 7, 2026, at New Covent Garden Theatre in Mall of the Emirates.

Instead of a traditional finale selected by the conductor, concertgoers will vote between two mystery musical endings, making the final performance a collective decision.

The interactive concert explores a familiar question: are our lives guided by fate, or can we shape our future by following our dreams?

How will the audience choose the concert’s ending?

Every audience member will receive a voting card with two options: red for Fate and blue for Dreams.

At the end of the performance, guests will cast their votes into designated boxes on stage. Once the votes are counted, chief conductor Nicolas Mann will reveal the winning choice.

Two folders, one red and one blue, will contain different musical encores prepared by the conductor. Both pieces will have been rehearsed, but only the audience’s chosen finale will be performed.

This means Dubai audiences will have a direct role in shaping the conclusion rather than simply watching the orchestra perform.

What music will feature at Rhapsody of Fate?

The programme combines two contrasting classical compositions that reflect the concert’s central themes.

Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4 represents the emotional intensity and unpredictability of fate, while George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue celebrates freedom, ambition and possibility.

Acclaimed pianist Olga Kirpicheva, founder of France-based Trio Medici, will join the orchestra for Gershwin’s composition, bringing together classical traditions and American jazz influences.

The evening will be conducted by Nicolas Mann, who received the Conductor of the Year 2026 award at the BraVo International Music Awards.

When and where is the concert happening?

The performance takes place on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at New Covent Garden Theatre, located on Level 2 of Mall of the Emirates.

The concert begins at 8pm, with doors opening at 7.30pm. Tickets start from AED 195, and admission is restricted to guests aged 12 and above.

Impact to expect

The interactive format could make classical music more appealing to younger listeners, families and first-time concertgoers in Dubai. By allowing Dubai audiences to influence the final performance, the orchestra is introducing a more participatory approach to live entertainment, potentially encouraging wider interest in orchestral music across the UAE.
