DUBAI: Motorists in Dubai should prepare for temporary road closures, traffic diversions and transport changes this weekend, October 31 and November 1. The restrictions coincide with Dubai Fitness Challenge activities and ongoing Etihad Rail construction.

Authorities have advised drivers to check routes before travelling, particularly those heading towards Downtown Dubai, Sheikh Zayed Road and Sharjah.

Dubai Ride Brings Road Restrictions on Sunday

Dubai Ride 2026 takes place on Sunday, November 1, as part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge. The event will temporarily close roads around its designated cycling routes.

The 12km route covers Sheikh Zayed Road, while the 4km family route passes through Downtown Dubai. Cycling routes open at 6:15am and close at 8am.

Dubai Metro services will begin at 3am to accommodate participants and visitors.

Emirates Road Closures Continue Until November 15

Etihad Rail construction will affect Emirates Road (E611) in the Dubai-to-Sharjah direction. The road will close daily between 1am and 5am until November 15.

Affected locations include Maleha Street, Emirates Road and areas near Sharjah Mosque. Motorists should follow diversion signs and allow additional travel time.

Impact to Expect

Weekend travellers may experience delays around major event routes and construction zones. Drivers heading to Sharjah overnight should consider alternative roads. Motorists should also check updated speed limits taking effect on five Dubai roads from November 1. Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority recommends following official traffic advisories to avoid unnecessary delays.
